Recently, artists like Lee Perry, Dionysos, Guem, Camille, Keren Ann, Anaïs, or Raphaël have performed in this 700-seat venue, to name just a few.
“The artists were satisfied with the venue and the atmosphere of the Théâtre Lino Ventura. Sometimes, we are directly contacted by tour managers who want a date in Nice for their singers,” proudly states Romain Vigna. During the Tuesday press conference to present the autumn concert program in Nice, the underlying discussion touched on the difficulty of attracting audiences and filling venues, summarizing the challenges specific to the Riviera. The example of the “Pop Your Pitchoun” concert at Sezamo last Friday is proof of this. “One has to push to attract crowds,” laments Romain Vigna. The goal is to get the people of Nice accustomed to going out. André Barthe, the deputy for culture, points out the low ticket prices (€13) at the Cedac de Cimiez, the Forum Nice Nord, and the Théâtre Lino Ventura. He compares it to an evening out in a Nice pub. The municipality risks losing money by lowering entrance prices. By drawing music lovers with big names like Grand Corps Malade, the organizers (Romain Vigna and Pierre Demaria for the Forum Nice Nord and the Cedac de Cimiez) hope that attendees will think, “it’s really nice to spend an evening listening to music” and come regularly, almost automatically, to listen to lesser-known artists.
“We wanted high quality, great originality, and lots of eclecticism,” hoped André Barthe. Romain Vigna and Pierre Demaria have fulfilled the deputy’s wish. Dance, variety, jazz, electro, hip hop, local artists… In short, enough to attract all audiences and incite multiple pleasures.
