Fourteen months of restoration were necessary to bring back the full splendor of the two oil paintings, The Virgin and Child with the Rosary and The Virgin in Majesty.
Now it is done: art and religious heritage enthusiasts can discover the result in the Saint Arnoux chapel.
The aid collected by the Heritage Foundation, which amounts to €10,677, helped cover the restoration costs carried out by the Atelier du Tilio.
Launched in 2015, the subscription for the restoration of two magnificent oil paintings finding refuge in the Saint Arnoux Church
Of unknown author and dated to the 18th century, these two canvases were found lying on the ground in the sacristy of Saint Arnoux Church, severely damaged due to prolonged exposure to humidity.
Now fully restored, the works, teeming with richly detailed illustrations, have been returned to the parish church to their rightful place, in a central position.
