Yesterday, the Maison des Associations Garibaldi transformed, for the duration of a day, into a genuine health and prevention center to the great delight of the nearly 700 people who came to benefit from screenings and advice offered by the many partners of this first forum… which surely calls for more to follow.
The City of Nice, the Mutualité Française, and CARSAT Sud-Est, the three main organizers of the event, were accompanied by their usual partners such as the Primary Health Insurance Fund of the 06, the Alpes Maritimes Committee of the League Against Cancer, celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, the Maison du Diabète, the Fragility Platform of the University Hospital Center of Cimiez, the LAHMESS of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, Les Opticiens Mutualistes, Audition Mutualiste, and the Mutualité Française Dental Health Center.
“It’s a very good idea to gather all these screening and prevention stands in one place. I even took the opportunity this morning to get a free flu vaccine. I hadn’t had time to do it this year,” explains Odile, who holds her Health Passport in her hands.
Every visitor to the Forum was provided with a Health Passport, about thirty pages long, which included the full program of the day and the location of the stands, as well as allowing doctors, nurses, and other health and prevention personnel to annotate results and provide their valuable advice.
Upstairs, the amphitheater hosted nine conferences ranging from the City of Nice’s health workshops (sleep, memory, well-being, driving…), to the benefits of sports in healthy aging, through sophrology and cancer prevention. A packed schedule that captured the attention of a changing audience that drifted from conferences to prevention or screening stands.
A well-organized event for a first edition with minimal waiting times at the various workshops and stands, despite a peak in attendance in the morning with a full amphitheater and stands where waiting tickets were distributed. “There are quite a few people, but that’s okay, we’re going to listen to the conference on sports and health. They’re the ones with whom we did our tests this morning. They explained it was a study by the University of Nice, as locals we readily participated,” states Paul at around 3 PM, accompanied by his wife Angèle, who had been present since the opening at 10 AM.
In the end, a great success and an accolade from the various partners who eagerly await the second edition to refine a process already well ingrained for a first attempt, which was undertaken under the aegis of Joëlle Lapp-Corbière, the head of the Quality of Life/Autonomy division of the Health and Autonomy Directorate, proudly supported by the Directorate team, and that of the Associative Life and Communication. A collaborative effort that deserves recognition.
