A pedagogical hackathon on the mental health of young people is being held on April 2 in Nice, bringing together middle school students, parents, and professionals. Participants will envision concrete actions, some of which will be implemented as early as next year.
The mental health of young people is a major issue. To address it, the Atelier Canopรฉ 06 – Nice and the Educational City Nice / Saint-Laurent-du-Var are organizing a pedagogical hackathon this Wednesday, April 2 at the Campus Sud des Mรฉtiers in Nice. This event brings together middle school students, parents, education professionals, and researchers to envision concrete actions for the well-being of young people.
Since the health crisis, mental health issues among young people have increased. According to a study by Santรฉ publique France, 14% of middle school students and 15% of high school students are at significant risk of depression. In response, Atelier Canopรฉ 06 – Nice has decided to organize a day of reflection and co-creation.
Mental health as a national priority
From 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., about forty participants from the Moulins and Point-du-Jour neighborhoods will work in groups guided by Canopรฉ Network trainers. Middle school students, teachers, facilitators, elected officials, and association representatives will need to imagine initiatives tailored to the needs of young people. At the end of the day, a committee of experts will select the most promising projects. These will then be tested in the field as early as next year.
Several local players are participating in this event: the Jules Romains and Saint-Exupรฉry middle schools, the CAF of Alpes-Maritimes, the Departmental Youth, Engagement, and Sports Service (SDJES), as well as the associations ADAM and Share your talent.
This initiative is part of the 2025 programming of the Educational City Nice / Saint-Laurent-du-Var, which makes mental health a priority.
