The Swan Lake, one of the great moments of classical ballet, set to Tchaikovsky’s music, a must in the repertoire, will be performed by the National Opera Ballet of Kiev, on Saturday, January 26, 2008, at 8:30 PM at the Acropolis.
Swan Lake is a ballet in 4 acts created at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow in 1877 by Russian composer Tchaikovsky.
It is one of those magical works that everyone has heard of, one of the most performed in the world.
It is interpreted here by 50 artists from the famous National Ballet of Kiev, including two star dancers and numerous essential figures of current classical dance.
A prince, a princess, a sorcerer, spells, transformations, the story of Siegfried and Odette has traveled the world and moved generations of audiences. Will love triumph over all pitfalls and curses? One cannot predict it, for there are two endings, one tragic, the other optimistic. Thus, it is fitting to admire the version the National Opera Ballet of Kiev offers of this wonderful choreographic spectacle: a luxurious production, with a significant ballet corps, in the spirit of the one who reinvented classical dance, pivotal figure of the stage, Marius Petipa.
Let’s not doubt, it will be, like the story, magical!
