This inauguration took place on the eve of the International Day: Yes, we all have the same rights! A day of fighting against homophobia, lesbophobia, and transphobia.
The homosexual community is still far too often stigmatized, a victim of many prejudices. The municipality thus wishes to combat these discriminations and place every citizen on an equal footing with a policy of tolerance and openness, respectful of everyone.
Therefore, since 2008, same-sex couples in a civil partnership can celebrate the confirmation of their commitment in Nice during a ceremony chaired by an elected official in the marriage hall.
To go further in this effort to change mentalities, the city of Nice has supported the creation of a Lesbian Gay Bi Trans center in Nice by providing a 120 m2 space located at 123 rue de Roquebilière, Nice.
The Lesbian Gay Bi Trans Côte d’Azur Center
The center is a welcoming and informative, cultural and festive space, serving the lesbian, gay, bi, and trans population. It provides to individuals who are victims of discrimination or harassment such as homophobia and transphobia:
Psychological assistance : issues related to self-esteem, difficulties living one’s homosexuality, or trauma to express (violence, insults).
Legal assistance : defense against homophobic discrimination and assaults, advice on marital life and family, asset transfer… thanks to the voluntary work of unions, lawyers, and notaries.
Medical assistance : appointments with a doctor to discuss health related to sexuality (HIV prevention, STD prevention, breast cancer prevention…).
