More than 5,000 runners started the Nice Côte d’Azur by UTMB, with the finish line held on Sunday, September 28, on the Promenade des Anglais. The event brought together athletes, volunteers, and the public around a common dynamic: running, celebrating, and taking action for social and environmental causes.
For three days during this Nice Côte d’Azur by UTMB, 5,009 runners from 81 countries set off on various courses ranging from 100 miles to 20 kilometers. In total, 4,330 participants crossed the finish line, resulting in a dropout rate of 16%. The starts took place from four municipalities of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis. All routes led to the Promenade des Anglais, a gathering place for finishers and the public.
The races were made possible thanks to the involvement of 1,000 volunteers. Their actions supported every stage, from welcoming the runners to managing the logistics of the events. The public also engaged, especially within the Fan Zone Positive, which cheered on the last arrivals.
Shared Values Beyond Sport
This edition highlighted several commitments. The youth found their place with nearly 100 children aged 5 to 17 participating in the races organized on Friday evening. Women benefited from enhanced measures to support their presence and comfort, with suitable infrastructures and a dedicated exchange space. The proportion of female participants increased, reaching 23% this year, with a peak of 45% in the 20 km.
The ecological approach also marked the event. The organizers implemented a shuttle system to limit car use, eliminated single-use plastics, and encouraged runners to use their own utensils at refreshment points. A cleanup of the trails followed the races to preserve the areas traversed.
Finally, solidarity took center stage. The solidarity race bibs and participants’ donations raised more than 14,000 euros. This amount will be donated to two local associations: Mission Trekkeurs, which responds after natural disasters, and Solidarité 06, which supports homeless women.
The event concluded on Sunday afternoon with the symbolic presentation of checks to the associations, in the presence of the organizers and local officials. A moment that gave a collective and supportive dimension to this edition, beyond the sporting performances.
