The traditional march of trade union and left-wing organizations, in which a thousand demonstrators participated, took place calmly following the route Jardins Albert 1er-Negresco-place Masséna, place Garibaldi.
Railway workers, nursing home staff, students… joined the march in the name of social upheaval, chanting slogans such as “Enough of this society that offers only unemployment and insecurity.”
The presence of Marine Le Pen in Nice for her rally was not unrelated to the participants’ motivation: “Facing Macron’s policy and the far-right gathered in Nice is our dual objective” – according to Robert Injey (PCF).
But everything took place in an orderly manner without anything to stir up tensions.
