For several weeks, many people in Nice had been calling for a national tribute, usually reserved for military personnel who have fallen in service, for the eighty-six people who died in the attack.
Representatives of the association Promenade des Anges 14 juillet and the National Federation of Victims of Attacks and Collective Accidents (Fenvac) were received yesterday by the President of the Republic, to whom they expressed this wish.
โThe president, without hesitation, confirmed that if it was the choice of the families, there would be a national tribute,โ said the Secretary General of Fenvac, Stรฉphane Gicquel.
A tribute that many people in Nice had hoped for since the attack. On July 18, a ceremony brought together more than 40,000 people on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.
The Elysรฉe stated that the day has โnot been decidedโ but that it will take place โwithin a few weeks to a month.โ
The associations further stated that Promenade des Anges โwill work with the City of Nice for the construction of a memorial during 2017.โ
