In a press release, the prefecture indicated that a technical accident occurred yesterday afternoon on the network of the telecommunications operator Orange. This resulted in partially and randomly affecting the reception of emergency calls 15/17/18/112 across the entire national territory.
Malfunctions were noticed yesterday evening on Orange’s telephone network. However, the problem seems to have been resolved this morning. No disruptions were reported in the department. It also had no impact on the number of calls received by the different emergency services. Thus, all the rescue centers in the department, as well as the departmental fire and rescue service, continued to maintain a physical presence as usual.
To address this incident, the Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes set up alternative numbers:
– For SAMU (emergency medical services): 04-93-92-55-55 instead of 15
– For the fire brigade: 04-93-22-76-90 or 04-93-22-75-90 instead of 18
– For the national police: 04-93-81-51-43 instead of 17
– For the national gendarmerie: 04-93-18-43-41 instead of 17
Bernard Gonzalez wanted to remind the public of the guidelines when calling emergency services:
– Only call emergency services in case of an emergency
– If you have difficulty reaching an emergency service, hang up and try your call again.
