Since 2006, the year the first agreement was signed, bus and tramway usage has nearly doubled, increasing from 34 million travelers in 2005 to 66.5 million in 2011.

The Nice transport network has expanded with additional bus services and the introduction of the tramway. Therefore, with the creation of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis, it became necessary to consider these new data.

This updated agreement specifically provides for enhanced means to ensure even safer transportation for citizens and also applies to partner municipalities such as Cagnes sur Mer, Saint Laurent du Var, and La Trinitรฉ, where municipal police forces will include the surveillance of the transport network in their duties, in coordination with the police or gendarmerie.

The current situation shows a satisfactory result: incidents have decreased, dropping from 1.2 per 100,000 travelers in 2008 to 0.8 incidents in 2011.

There is also a noticeable reduction in anti-social behavior, primarily due to the actions of inspectors: an increase in the inspection rate from 3 to almost 5%, a 10% decrease in fare evasion compared to 2010, and finally, an increase in fines issued, rising from 17,000 in 2009 to nearly 50,000 in 2011.
