A new conductor at the Regional Orchestra of Cannes: Benjamin Levy

The conductor Benjamin Levy has been appointed as the musical director and permanent conductor of the Orchestre Régional de Cannes Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur starting from November 1, 2016, for a renewable period of 3 years.


Benjamin Levy will succeed Wolfgang Doerner and Philippe Bender at the helm of the Orchestre Régional de Cannes Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur. He is committed to multiplying artistic projects and offering the public a program that will satisfy all desires and curiosities.

Trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon (First Prize in percussion) and in Paris (Prize in analysis and conducting class), Benjamin Levy furthered his education at the American Academy of Conducting in Aspen, USA, and at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy.

Benjamin Levy is very active on the European symphonic and lyric scenes.

After conducting the Orchestre Régional de Cannes Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur for the first time on September 18, 2016, during the event Cannes celebrates Port Canto, Benjamin Levy will return to the Orchestra during this season for the concert Khatia and Gvantsa Buniatishvili on January 13, 2017, at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes (Théâtre Debussy).
