Since its creation in 2012, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis has developed and intensified its actions in favor of agriculture, notably by developing a close partnership with institutional organizations and identity sectors, and then by creating an aid fund for municipalities seeking to encourage the establishment of new agricultural operators.

To strengthen this policy, an agreement confirming the implementation of territorial animation on ten defined priority agricultural interest sectors was signed today at the Paris Agricultural Show by the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, the EPA Plaine du Var, and the Chamber of Agriculture 06.
Wishing to enhance its efforts in this area, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis has decided to encourage farmers to participate in the Paris General Agricultural Competition by covering 50% of the registration cost and granting bonuses to winners based on the medal obtained.
Moreover, the Metropolis has led a working group since 2013, bringing together the Chamber of Agriculture, the Departmental Directorate of Territories and the Sea (DDTM), the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur Region, the Departmental Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, and the EPA Plaine du Var.
In collaboration with the mayors of the concerned municipalities, farmers, and technical organizations, a diagnosis was carried out on agricultural activities in the Plaine du Var.
Based on this diagnosis, the stakeholders identified ten priority agricultural interest sectors in the Plaine du Var and defined an action plan in terms of land development. A new facilitator position will be tasked with carrying out territorial animation on each of the agricultural interest sectors.
The objective is to make proposals for agricultural planning and orientation while identifying the operators’ projects and then ensuring the support of these projects, both for the farmers and the communities.
