The City of Nice is planning a new swimming pool in the Var Plain with a 50-meter pool, accessible to the general public and schools. This 18.2 million euro project will incorporate ecological solutions and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
The Nice municipality has announced the construction of a new swimming pool in the Var Plain. Intended for schools and the general public, it will complement the current offerings by adding a 50-meter pool. The resolution to initiate the design competition will be presented this Friday, March 28, 2025. The delivery is scheduled for the end of 2027.
The project addresses the growing demand for aquatic spaces, especially in the West of Nice. Currently, the Camille Muffat pool is reserved for professional athletes. This new infrastructure will thus provide additional access for the general public.
The swimming pool will feature a 50-meter pool divided into eight lanes, with a capacity of 1,500 people at a time. It will include changing rooms, administrative offices, and a reception area. Bleachers with 500 seats will also be installed for competitions.
The planned budget for this facility amounts to 18.2 million euros. The construction is expected to begin by the end of 2026.
A More Sustainable Pool
This new facility will incorporate several ecological solutions. The pool water will be reused to irrigate the landscaped areas. Treatment products will be chosen to reduce environmental impact.
The water heating will rely on solar panels installed on the roof. A thermal cover will minimize heat loss.
By 2028, the pool could be connected to the geothermal networks of the ZAC Parc Mรฉridia. This sustainable energy source would allow for heating the pools and the premises.
With this investment, the city of Nice aims to provide an accessible and modern facility while reducing its environmental impact.
