Until now, three student solidarity social grocery stores have been active in Nice as part of the Solidarity Action Plan launched at the beginning of 2021, in collaboration with partners from student life.
Food aid, housing, transport, health, leisure and culture… the 18-25-year-olds benefit from joint or complementary actions by partners to peacefully live their learning and study journey and student life in Nice. These new measures are designed to meet the needs of young people and students, responding as closely as possible to their expectations in their daily lives.
Following its success, there will soon be a fourth one. This grocery store will be located at 12 rue Giacobi in Nice and is set to open before the end of the first semester of 2022.
Thus, it offers a more complete territorial network and provides young people from all over the city with the opportunity to access an array of food and essential goods at prices significantly lower than market rates.
A call for proposals to entrust its management to any association(s) or consortium of associations was launched from October 15, 2021, to November 12, 2021, and was awarded to FACE 06, which brings together around forty student associations and already has solid experience and expertise in the management, operation, and logistics of a student social grocery store, as it has been managing and operating the first certified AGORAé student social grocery store in France for 10 years, manages the new solidarity restaurant, and thus guarantees optimized management of the grocery store and a diversity of offerings.
The association will be able to meet the needs and expectations of the beneficiaries, with products offered at 15% of the market price.
Additionally, this project is designed to make this grocery store a true multi-purpose living space, a place of exchange, sharing, and conviviality among the students who will manage it and those who will visit, fostering a real sense of community with the implementation of workshops for CV/cover letter writing assistance, cooking, game sessions, movie screenings, and more.
