The Trotabas Campus, which hosts the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the Côte d’Azur University, will benefit from a new university residence. Bouygues Bâtiment Sud-Est, in collaboration with CROUS Nice Toulon, is responsible for the design and execution of the project. Delivery is scheduled for the fall of 2026.

The future residence will feature 76 units, including four accessible for individuals with reduced mobility. Each unit, a T1 studio, will offer an area of 18 to 22 m². In addition to private spaces, the residents will have access to a gym, a social room, and a laundry.

The building, designed considering site constraints, will be situated on a former tennis court. Its location will preserve the sea view from the university restaurant’s terrace. The main access will be via a footbridge crossing an oak grove, and the units will be connected by a promenade open to the gardens.

Construction to begin at the end of 2025

The residence will comply with several environmental standards and aims to obtain the Bronze label of the Mediterranean Sustainable Building (BDM). Railings and sunshades will minimize sun exposure in summer, and the greening of the area will promote biodiversity. A common boiler room will provide heating and hot water for the residence and the university restaurant.

“Bouygues Bâtiment Sud-Est is delighted to be able to meet, together with CROUS Nice Toulon, the housing needs of students in Nice while addressing environmental requirements. Building for the youth commits us, obliges us to look further, and feel more responsible for the future,” says Mikaël Rouscoff, Director of the Nice Côte d’Azur Agency of Bouygues Bâtiment Sud-Est.

The construction will start in the third quarter of 2025, with commissioning for the 2026 academic year. This project is part of a commitment to sustainable development and improving housing conditions for students in Nice.
