Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice and President of Nice Cรดte d’Azur, attended last weekend the inauguration of the Nuremberg Trials Memorial, the place where the International Military Tribunal was established for trials against the main war criminals of the Nazi regime. This new establishment of museen der stadt nรผrnberg (museums of the city of Nuremberg) is located in the world-famous Courtroom 600 of Nuremberg’s courthouse.

During this trip, Christian Estrosi was accompanied by a delegation composed of elected officials from the City of Nice, the honorary consul of Germany, historians, local religious figures, as well as a survivor of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp.

Christian Estrosi was welcomed by Dr. Ulrich Maly, Mayor of Nuremberg, and met with representatives of the municipality of Nuremberg, the Nuremberg-Nice Circle of Friends, as well as cultural figures.

The morning was dedicated to visiting the Documentation Center of Nazism.
Inaugurated on November 4, 2001, at the site of the Nazi party congress in Nuremberg, it offers a permanent exhibition called Faszination und Gewalt (โ€œFascination and Violenceโ€). It covers many topics ranging from the Weimar Republic to the Nuremberg Trials.

The inauguration of the Nuremberg Memorial was an opportunity to attend the screening of a historical documentary film on the conduct of the trials for the condemnation of war criminals in Nuremberg, as well as the speeches of representatives of the Allied forces during the Second World War.
