The Alpes-Maritimes federation of the Communist Party presented its best wishes. It was an opportunity to take stock of current events and the party’s positions on current policy in France.
For the Communist Party, the year 2015 was mainly marked by the rise of the National Front and social inequalities.
The migrant crisis and the liberalization of the left are equally important topics for the Communist Party, which does not hesitate to criticize the current government’s policy and the actions and words of local officials concerning waves of migrants.
For this year 2016, the Party has set objectives specific to the communist struggle: opposing the employers and the actions of Minister Macron, whom they see as symbolizing the liberal shift of the left; moving away from the UMP/PS/FN tripartism and, above all, engaging in dialogue with the many young people who vote for the National Front.
According to the Party’s secretary, Cécile Dumas, “We must free up political debate and not remain focused on the deprivation of nationality. France is going through a difficult time, but we must stay on a progressive path, and the Communist Party must offer solutions. The situation of the migrants is unbearable, and the government must welcome them into special centers and not leave it to Italy to handle. We are a party of peace, equality, the sharing of wealth, and freedom, and it is with this mindset that we approach the year 2016.”
