As the two teams parted ways last night in a friendly match in Fréjus with a goalless draw, the clubs OGC Nice and Etoile FC Fréjus Saint-Raphaël have officially announced a partnership that has linked them for several years.
OGC Nice, which places training policies at the heart of its development project, offers young players from the Var a bridge towards the upper levels.
This bridge has already been taken by Fabien Dao Castellana and Mouez Hassen, both winners of the Gambardella Cup with the Gym in 2012, who later became professionals.
Conversely, Etoile FC Fréjus Saint-Raphaël, who play in the National league and nearly reached Ligue 2 last season, allows young players from OGC Nice’s training center to gain experience at an intermediate level between the CFA championship and Ligue 1. This is a formative step for emerging players.
Moreover, this partnership is also a sign of OGC Nice’s openness to the outside. The Gym, proud of its Nice heritage, aims to rally supporters from across the Mediterranean basin behind its team.
