On the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day, Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis, presents the pilot scheme of an external class from the IME (Medico-Educational Institute) of Carros, which the city is partnering with.
This project plans the creation of an external class from the IME to accommodate 6 primary-aged children with autism or Pervasive Developmental Disorders, who are supported by this establishment.
The City of Nice has decided to host this class and provide a room to allow it to open in September 2013.
Today, in our country, 100,000 young people under the age of 20 are affected by autism.
An innovative method is supported by the IME “Les Coteaux d’Azur” managed by the ABA Apprendre Autrement association in Carros, as it seems essential to address these behavioral issues by providing an educational response, promoting the schooling of these children in mainstream environments.
A tripartite partnership agreement among the Nice City Hall, National Education, and ABA Apprendre Autrement Association will be proposed to the municipal council in June 2013.
