A plantation for each newborn in Nice, a symbol of renewal and investment for the future.

Launched in April 2013, the “One Tree, One Child” operation involves planting a tree for each newborn in Nice as a symbol of renewal and investment for the future.

On this occasion, 50 carob trees and 5 Aleppo pines were planted in the Parc de la Colline du Château, in the presence of a kindergarten class from the Château school.

This was followed by the planting of 4,600 seedlings distributed across the Parc de la Colline du Château and the Mont Boron Municipal Forest, corresponding to the number of births in that same year.

For the second series of plantings, 4,621 young forest seedlings were planted during last December and January 2015, the most favorable months for the recovery of the root system.

Each plot corresponds to a quarter of the year’s births. Mediterranean species such as stone pine, Aleppo pine, holm oak, hop hornbeam, field maple, olive, ash, carob tree, and phillyrea were selected for this planting campaign, which contributes to making Nice the Green City of the Mediterranean.
