After initiating free licenses in 2009 for certain young people, the City of Nice continues its policy of encouraging sports practice. This program will allow young people from Nice who are licensed in a local sports club to have part of their membership fee covered by the City.

45,970 young people from Nice in the targeted age group (6 to 18 years old as of September 1, 2014) are eligible to benefit from this.

This is an initiative that should be praised since sports play a structuring role in an educational journey and hold an essential place: respect for others, referees, rules, etc.

Moreover, as shown by recent national and international studies, sports are an extraordinary tool for public health: 20% of deaths are due to diseases related to a sedentary lifestyle.

Educating young people in sports practices also becomes a genuine societal project.

The new program will consist of distributing sports coupons under certain criteria, each worth 20 โ‚ฌ, to cover part of the cost of the 2014-2015 membership fee for a sports association in Nice.

The aid can go, as before, up to 40 โ‚ฌ for recipients of the School Return Allowance or the Disabled Child Education Allowance.
