A Promenade des Anglais without heavy vehicles?

Latest News

Christian Estrosi ready to launch a ZFE in Nice from January 1, 2021, if in return, the Government approves his request to downgrade the Promenade des Anglais from major traffic routes.

Christian Estrosi analyzes the current situation: “1,800 heavy vehicles travel on the Promenade des Anglais every day. Freight transport by utility and heavy vehicles represents 44% of greenhouse gas emissions. In light of such findings, it is essential to take measures without delay. We can only do this in perfect alignment with the State. This is why, after several requests made to the Government in recent years, I reiterate my desire to have the Promenade des Anglais and the Quai des États-Unis removed from the classification of major traffic routes. This should allow us to implement a ZFE Goods Transport order as of January 1, 2021.”

According to the Mayor of Nice, the Minister of the Ecological Transition, Barbara Pompili, is considering a solution to limit heavy vehicle traffic to only exceptional convoys on our Promenade des Anglais, thereby removing it from major traffic routes.

If this decision is made, heavy vehicles will have to bypass the city by staying on the A8 motorway, which will require them to pass through the Saint-Isidore toll.

The logical conclusion would be for Escota to make the passage free, bearing the loss of revenue. Will the concessionaire be willing to do it when nothing obligates them?
