This Monday, March 3rd, Renaud Muselier, President of the SUD Region, officially launched the Regional Parliament for the Winter Games 2030 – Passion Montagne 2050. The event brought together elected officials, experts, and athletes to discuss issues related to organizing these Games. The objective: to build an environmentally respectful model adapted to climate challenges.
Alongside Renaud Muselier, several personalities were present, including Franรงois de Canson and Jean-Pierre Serrus, Vice Presidents of the Region, as well as Hervรฉ Liberman, Regional Councillor. Jean-Marie Bernard and Eliane Barreille, Presidents of the departmental councils of Haute-Alpes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, respectively, also participated in the discussions.
Experts shared their perspectives on ecological transition and climate adaptation. Among them were Franรงois Gemenne, co-author of the sixth IPCC report, and Stรฉphane Mourlane, Deputy Director of the Mediterranean House of Human Sciences. Damien Robert, Executive Director of SOLIDEO, and Hugues Parant, Special Delegate for the Winter Games 2030, discussed infrastructure management.
Athletes Get Involved
The sports world was also represented. Athletes like Cyprien Sarrazin, Arthur Bauchet, Christine Rossi, Aurรฉlie Richard, and Simon Billy shared their vision of these Games. Presidents of federations, including Gwenaelle Gigarel Noury for ice sports and Pierre-Yves Gerbeau for ice hockey, participated in the discussions.
This Regional Parliament will regularly bring together citizens, elected officials, and local stakeholders. It will be a space for dialogue on key priorities: ecological transition, resource management, sustainable planning, and the legacy of the Games for the Alpine territories.
This is an opportunity to build exemplary Games, suited to the challenges of our time. This Parliament aims to be a tool to achieve that goal. The ongoing efforts should result in concrete proposals to make the Winter Games 2030 a sustainable and innovative event.
