Until September 17, the International Center for Contemporary Art (CIAC) in Carros is hosting the exhibition “From Shadow to Light,” a retrospective of the works of Octave Denis Victor Guillonnet (1872-1967), fifty years after his passing.
Guillonnet was an artist with international influence, but his ties to Carros were particularly strong, notably because he settled for many years in his studio La Forge, located at the entrance of Carros village.
A retrospective of Guillonnet… 50 years after his passing, it is not by chance.
Not only is the castle dedicated to hosting artists of international stature, but Guillonnet also had genuine connections, having settled in Carros in 1899 to paint in his La Forge studio at the entrance of the village, where he created his greatest works.
Today, these works are preserved and exhibited in numerous museums across France.
The pieces come from private collections, galleries, major museums in France, as well as Carros’ own collection, which acquired several pieces from the artist in 2015.
