A reliable buyer is said to have come forward for the takeover of the Nice-Matin group (Nice Matin, Var Matin, and Corse Matin). It was announced by the inter-union via a statement yesterday at the end of the day.
The offer should be finalized and proposed to the Hersant group by the end of January and, as a result, the General Assembly of the inter-union, initially scheduled for Thursday, January 23, has been postponed to Wednesday, January 29, at the group’s headquarters in Nice.
The Nice-Matin group, regretting an operating loss of more than 6 million euros, is under the threat of being placed under judicial administration. The Hersant Group does not wish to inject additional liquidity again.
“We fear that Hersant’s scandalous failures will lead us straight into the abyss of judicial administration with what it implies in terms of job losses. Meanwhile, our CEO locks himself in a disdainful silence, which is especially and eminently dangerous,” the unions assert.
