A sports challenge in Saint Martin Vésubie to fight against malaria

Latest News

This sporting challenge brought together members of the French, Danish, Swedish, Turkish, and Swiss Junior Chambers International as well as representatives from civil society to promote our region and raise funds for the purchase of bed nets aimed at fighting malaria as part of the humanitarian campaign “Nothing But Nets” supported by the United Nations Foundation.

The principle is to send, to countries affected by malaria, bed nets priced at $10 each (around €8), covering their purchase, delivery, and training for the families using them. Each net protects a family of four people.

Thus, over two days, participants in the 2011 JCI Challenge competed in a spirit of camaraderie in teams of two in various events such as the “bike & run” race, “team spirit” events with the “tandem challenge,” the “revisited biathlon,” the “mini orienteering race” in the Village of Saint Martin Vésubie, and the “fun evening” event where participants showcased their imagination by providing an artistic expression on a given theme, culminating in a nature orienteering race.

A JCE Pays Niçois village was set up in the main square of Saint Martin Vésubie to welcome participants and donors as part of this enthusiastic initiative.

Thanks to the commitment of the various participants in this sporting challenge and the donations collected during these two days, the Junior Chamber Economic of Pays Niçois will be able to fund 183 bed nets for the “Nothing But Nets” campaign.
