The Nice Cรดte dโAzur Urban Community is launching a large campaign to raise awareness about urban cleanliness starting this Wednesday, November 25th, and running until December 8th, 2009. This campaign will be featured across several platforms such as:
– Posters in Nice shops (750 placements),
– Announcements in the press, in tram shelters, and on the Vรฉlo Bleu network,
– The broadcast of 3 different radio spots โ 8 messages per day on several local radio stations,
– The option to download the “Street Code” from the NCA and City of Nice websites,
– The distribution of 10,000 street codes to the general public via the main city hall, branch city halls, the environmental house, and the environmental brigade.
This operation aims to raise awareness about respecting one’s city, neighborhood, and street through a “street code” composed of 10 tips for keeping the city clean.
THE STREET CODE
Rule 1 โ I do not throw my cigarette butt on public streets (a โฌ35 fine may apply)
– 1,000 street ashtrays to be installed by the end of 2009 in the City of Nice,
– In the summer, beach ashtrays are distributed for free to smokers.
Rule 2 โ I do not throw my trash out of my car window or my apartment window.
– More than 3,000 cleanliness bins in the City of Nice,
– Bags are replaced once or twice a day.
Rule 3 โ I pick up my dog’s droppings (a โฌ45 fine may apply.)
– 800 bag dispensers in Nice,
– More than 750,000 bags distributed annually,
– 10 poop-scooter teams, 14 street sweepers, 7 high-pressure washing vehicles.
Rule 4 โ In the street, I dispose of small debris in cleanliness bins, but not household waste!
– Household waste must be thrown into the bins of your building.
Rule 5 โ I do not discard chewing gum on the public streets.
Rule 6 โ When I park, I leave space between the car and the curb so that the street edges can be cleaned.
– More than 400 street cleaners work daily to clean our streets.
Rule 7 โ I do not dispose of bulky household items on the street: (refrigerator, mattress, furniture, appliances, batteries, and electronic equipment, etc.) (a โฌ35 fine may apply.)
– I drop them at the waste disposal site to give them a second life,
– I make an appointment with the bulky item service: 0 805 12 39 06.
Rule 8 โ I take out my trash containers on the right day, at the right time, and bring them back in after collection.
– Take out containers between 7 PM and 8:30 PM, and bring them in before 8 AM,
– Household waste collection: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays,
– Yellow bin pick-up: Wednesdays.
Rule 9 โ I sort my packaging to promote recycling and protect the environment.
– 7,500 tons of packaging collected per year,
– 9,400 tons of glass collected per year,
– 7,600 tons of paper collected per year.
Rule 10 โ I deposit my household waste in a container and not directly on the ground.
