Everyone makes their case until the closure of the public consultation set for April 10th.
Line 1 has just been integrated, and already the future of Line 2 is up for debate in Nice, with a new tramway that can’t quite decide which route to take.
There are those “for” who argue that the construction time will be halved, there will be substantial savings allowing for the rehabilitation of the sidewalks along the promenade, and a lesser impact on local businesses and residents compared to the planned city center route. On the other hand, the main argument against appears to be “the disfigurement of the Promenade des Anglais,” even though potential (but rare) storms or the distance from the city center are also recurrent arguments. Of course, Christian Estrosi and his city council are rather in favor of routing Line 2 along the Promenade des Anglais, but this is not to the liking of his opposition, represented by Patrick Allemand and the elected members of the “Changez d’ère” group who have launched a petition against this project.
On the web in Nice, the fight for a Yes or a No is also fully underway with numerous polls and petitions launched by Nice Matin, by Christian Estrosi, or by Changez d’ère. Facebook is no exception to this rule with groups actively campaigning for or against the promenade route.
And you, are you for or against the tramway passing along the Promenade des Anglais?
