A successful venture for the film “Casting Sauvage”

Latest News

Several members of the film crew for “Casting Sauvage” were present Wednesday evening at the Mercury cinema in Nice for its presentation. Straddling the line between documentary and fiction, the feature film has achieved a daring feat: creating a story from casting footage.

Casting Sauvage” is a rather ordinary story. Rémy, a 25-year-old young man, sets off in search of his father, whose existence he has just discovered. It’s a moped journey during which several adventures occur.

What is less ordinary, however, is the film’s format. The entire story is driven by more than 80 actors, 33 of whom play the role of Rémy alone.

How is such a thing possible? It’s simple; everything was shot from casting footage.

Behind this project are three men: director Galaad Hemsi, signing his first feature film here, and Clément Vieu and Raphael Delétang in writing. All three, passionate about casting, decided to make a 1-hour-13-minute film… Much to the delight of viewers.

An Effective Film

The artists took a huge risk by filming it this way. Altogether, it involved 4 years of filming, two cameras, and hundreds of hours of footage to edit.

“It’s experimental cinema,” explains Clément Vieu. It’s an experience they make accessible, something few filmmakers of this genre manage to do.

Concrete and effective, the film is not pretentious. It simply showcases passionate actors doing their job, without artifice. And for that reason alone, it’s worth seeing at the cinema.
