A tournament of the heart, this Sunday in Saint Laurent du Var.

From 10 a.m., the municipal stadium of Saint Laurent du Var will host a 7-a-side football tournament featuring numerous former stars of Nice and Cannes football. This initiative promises a day filled with good humor and friendship.

Niss’Heart, All with Hugo, and the young people from IUT Tech de Co° of Cannes invite you this Sunday, May 11th, at Saint-Laurent-du-Var, at Léon Berenger stadium (City Hall parking), starting at 10 a.m. for a new tournament in the company of former players from OGC Nice and AS Cannes.

José Cobos, Cyril Rool, Ederson, Eric Cubilier, Thibaut Scotto, Stéphane Collet, Marco Di Costanzo, and many more will be on the field for this charitable day under the aegis of the association “All with Hugo,” which Fabien, Hugo’s proud father, explains the content and purpose of.

Nice Premium: Fabien, a tournament of the heart, this Sunday in Saint Laurent du Var?

Fabien Séchaud: Yes, of course. We’ve been wanting to do this project for a while now. We had already discussed it some time ago with the members of Niss’Heart association.

This project is here to show that everyone is affected by the cause (Players, volunteers, former professionals..). More than 20 teams, in addition to the former Cannes and Nice players, have mobilized for this event. We are deeply moved. The support from the town of Saint Laurent du Var in all our events is also fantastic.

For us, “Solidarity, Commitment, Dedication, Good Cheer” are the key words of our associations. Young and old are there to have a good time while explaining why they are there? What is the illness? Why are we fighting?

After several events, we have been able to recognize the receptiveness of people to the problems we have encountered during this “long battle.”

Once again, and I will never say it enough, a big thank you to everyone.

NP: How will this day unfold?

FS: A year ago, the former players of Gym favorably responded to our request for a tournament.

Today, we take the step, with a charitable match, always featuring distinguished guests. All the former stars will be there: Valencony, Rool, Tamazout, Cubilier, Cobos, Everson, Mattio, Di Constanzo, Alberganti (president of the former Gym members), among others.

The former players of Cannes will also be there.

Autographs, signings… they will be there for you!

NP: How could we not ask you about our little one, Hugo?

FS: Hugo is doing well, and it is a great relief for everyone, family, and friends as well as for all those who mobilized and supported us through these long months of anxiety.

Hugo is in remission. This means that all traces of the disease have disappeared, but the certainty of recovery will require a few more years.

NP: But the fight continues?

FS: Indeed, Hugo must be operated on again on May 20th, as some organs were severely tested during the otherwise life-saving protocols.

NP: Are more operations planned for the coming weeks and months?

FS: Under the drive of the sponsors of the association, Jose Cobos, former captain of OGC Nice, and Laurent Barat, comedian, various events are planned in the coming months, but I cannot say more at this point (smile).

I remind you that on May 30th and 31st, at the Théâtre de Verdure in Nice, several rock bands will perform as part of the ROCK FEST 2014 UN Max de bruit, as well as a gala evening with athletes, artists, and other surprises at the “Le Panama” beach in Théoule sur Mer, reservations are necessary as places are limited.

NP: And more significant projects also in the longer term?

FS: This painful experience has put us in contact with the pain, distress, and loneliness that all families face when a child is affected by disease, particularly cancer.

Thanks to the association “All with Hugo,” we put our experience at the service of a cause dear to us, with two main axes:

1/ Helping the Archet Hospital to improve the child-parent welcome within the pediatric oncology department

2/ Supporting research on neuroblastoma, especially at IGR where we received care and hospitality for over a year, which is the basis for Hugo’s and many other little Hugos’ rebirth affected by the disease.

Thanks to all this solidarity, on June 11th, we will be at the Gustave Roussy Institute with Dr. Volteau Couanet, a pediatric cancer specialist, for a check donation to help research against “neuroblastoma.”
