A very hot summer, an exceptional heatwave plan

Latest News

Every year, the city of Nice does everything it can to limit the effects of the heatwave. Yesterday afternoon, Christian Estrosi presented the health measures for this summer, which is expected to have higher temperatures than last year…

Two new flat and sparkling water fountains in Carras Garden and on the port have been added to the 135 drinking fountains and 28 decorative fountains operational in Nice. On the beaches as well, about fifty drinking water points and 100 showers are already available for beachgoers. The city of Nice is not holding back this year and is providing the means to ensure maximum health safety for its residents. The little ones are certainly not forgotten: fixed or mobile air conditioning and water games are set up in 28 nurseries in Nice. On July 1st, an above-ground pool will be installed on the Paillon Promenade.

Identification and interventions for at-risk individuals.

The elderly are the priority of the heatwave plan. As such, the four nursing homes of the CCAS (Community Center for Social Action) are equipped with cooling or air-conditioned areas. Since June 1st, the CCAS has been managing the register of Isolated Vulnerable Persons, identifying and quickly intervening with at-risk individuals. In May, 12,000 seniors received a questionnaire to identify those potentially at risk.

A public awareness campaign

Ten seasonal workers from the Heatwave Brigade are present to educate citizens. Posters containing essential information will be displayed throughout the city. Finally, an application, Allo Mairie, is available for the needs of vulnerable and isolated individuals, among others, with an emergency contact number and a map of all the water points in the city of Nice.
