The Laundry Service of the CHU of Nice receives the 2011 โ Responsible Textile Care award, in the “Water and Energy Savings” category.
- A pioneering and particularly efficient initiative in France.
The Responsible Textile Care awards are presented by the French Committee for Textile Care Labeling (COFREET) and the JET EXPO exhibition, under the high patronage of the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development.
They recognize organizations that have initiated an innovation, a service, or a virtuous approach in 3 different categories.
The Laundry Service of the CHU of Nice, with its 2,468 tons of laundry per year, ranks among the 8% of public laundries that process more than 10 tons of laundry per day among the 1,000 facilities in France.
Committed to quality improvement across all its activities, it has been ISO 9001 quality certified since November 2000 and obtained ISO 14001 Environmental certification in June 2010.
Intending to limit and control its environmental impact, continuous improvement of processes and equipment has significantly reduced water consumption by 5,200 m3 (-9%) and energy consumption (-12%), while having a positive impact on water pollution and waste treatment.
