The Prefect of Alpes-Maritimes has authorized, starting today, “access to the concerned beaches and shores for dynamic use, for the purposes of walking, swimming, and individual sports and nautical activities.”

Out of the 16 coastal municipalities in Alpes-Maritimes, four (Eze, Beaulieu, Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat, Villefranche sur Mer) have not submitted a request for exemption.

Bernard Gonzalez specifies that “the intention is not to consider a traditional use of the beach,” but “a dynamic use for walking or practicing individual sports, in strict compliance with physical distancing measures and other health guidelines.”

Walking, running, and swimming will therefore be possible. However, sunbathing or having a picnic will be impossible.

“Dynamic activities,” as opposed to static sunbathing, “precisely defined time slots”: under conditions, walkers, swimmers, shore anglers, athletes—in “individual” practice—will thus be able to find their way back to the beaches.

Green light also for boaters with the reopening of marinas in all the municipalities.
