A month after the shooting that left two dead and five injured in the Moulins district, on this Tuesday, November 4th, a 39-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her partner in the same location. Their 17-year-old daughter was hospitalized in critical condition. The man, already prosecuted for domestic violence in 2023, was arrested on the spot.
The Moulins district in Nice was the scene of another tragedy this Tuesday, November 4th, shortly after 1 PM. According to the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture, a man stabbed his partner and their 17-year-old daughter in an apartment on Avenue de la Méditerranée.
Police officers called to the scene discovered a scene of great violence. “On this day (Tuesday, editor’s note) around 1 PM, police services were requested for acts of violence with a weapon committed at 24 Avenue de la Méditerranée in Nice. On the scene in an apartment, they found a woman born in 1986 severely injured after receiving several blows with a bladed weapon and provided first aid,” stated the public prosecutor of Nice, Damien Martinelli.
Despite resuscitation attempts, the victim, aged 39, died on the spot. Her 17-year-old daughter, also struck by multiple stab wounds, was attended to by emergency services and transported to the hospital. “Despite the emergency efforts, the mother passed away while the 17-year-old girl was hospitalized in critical condition,” specified the prosecutor.
Another child, aged two, was also in the apartment at the time of the attack. She was not injured. The police immediately moved her to safety.
The suspected man, aged 47, was arrested at the scene and placed in custody. The Nice public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation for “spousal homicide” and “attempted homicide.” This has been entrusted to the local judicial police service in Nice.
A criminal record already marked by domestic violence
Prosecutor Damien Martinelli clarified that the alleged perpetrator was the children’s father. “Unknown to the judicial authority until 2023, the accused had been prosecuted in December of that year for acts of violence against a partner without total incapacity to work. Brought before the court and placed under judicial supervision, he had been acquitted by judgment on May 23, 2024.”
The prosecution has not confirmed whether he was still living with the victim at the time of the tragedy. According to initial information, the couple was separated. Nevertheless, the man had gone to the apartment this Tuesday early in the afternoon. The exact circumstances of the act remain to be determined.
The victim was a mother of seven children, aged between 18 and 2 years. They are all now receiving psychological and social support. “The severely injured teenager and the child present, as well as the rest of the siblings, totaling seven children born between 2007 and 2023, are being cared for under a dedicated support protocol,” indicated the prosecutor. The Montjoye association has been mobilized to provide immediate support to the relatives.

The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, reacted immediately to the announcement of the drama in a message posted on the X network. He described it as a “femicide” and a “terrible act that must be punished with extreme severity.”
The deputy for Alpes-Maritimes, Éric Ciotti, also expressed his emotion. He described it as a “genuine tragedy” and added: “I hope that everything will be quickly clarified regarding this absolute tragedy.”
This murder occurs while domestic violence continues to concern the authorities. In 2024, the number of women killed by their partner or ex-partner increased by 11% over a year, according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior.
The Moulins district, where the tragedy took place, is regularly confronted with acts of violence. But this time, it was a family tragedy that shook the local community. According to several sources, the victim and her partner were members of the Chechen community in Nice.
The investigation will need to establish the exact circumstances of the act, as well as any warning signs that may have preceded the murder. In the meantime, the 17-year-old girl remains hospitalized in critical condition. Her brothers and sisters are being taken care of by social services.
