On Saturday, October 26, the highlight of the JACCEDE operation takes place with an event organized across France. For the third time, Nice is participating in the national accessibility day organized by the JACCEDE association.
This awareness day aimed to demonstrate that making public establishments accessible is not just a matter of constraints and costs but primarily a mindset, a motivation to think “accessible.”
Throughout the day, volunteers set out in teams of three to identify accessible locations in the city center, the port district, and Rue de la République.
Their missions were:
– To assess the level of accessibility of public establishments (post offices, shops, restaurants, banks, etc.);
– To engage with business owners and raise awareness of the importance of accessibility;
– To provide the public with free information on accessible venues via the website www.jaccede.com.
Christian Estrosi thanked the numerous Nice volunteers who participated in this awareness day. He then attended a demonstration by the APF of navigating a wheelchair path with the participation of several members of the Nice City Council and a step session for everyone with the Neofit association, which has been working for 15 years to integrate people with disabilities into the world of sports, particularly fitness.
