Following the recital by the great musician Richard Galliano at Ste Rรฉparate Cathedral, the Association of Friends of Lacassagne collected โฌ9,500, which they donated to the hospital fighting cancer.
The “Friends of Lacassagne” Association, along with the accordionist, presented Professor Joรซl Guigay, General Director of the Antoine Lacassagne Center, with a check for โฌ9,500.
On January 20th, Richard Galliano performed at Ste Rรฉparate Cathedral with an interpreter. Playing his own interpretations and Serge Gainsbourg’s “La Javanaise,” he noted a “communion with his audience.”
He is happy to have worked for a cause that touches him closely: “With music, we give emotions, but doctors are in the realm of the concrete.”
The association, which works for cancer research, wanted the proceeds to contribute to the acquisition of a state-of-the-art interventional radiology table. An acquisition that is part of the development project of the Center. In clear terms, it allows access to a lesion inside the body to perform a diagnostic or therapeutic act. This method can be an alternative to conventional surgical treatment but can also complement it.
Doctor Guillaume Baudin, head of radiology, has championed this project that is close to his heart since his arrival a little less than a year ago. Thanks to this diagnostic instrument, “the procedures will be less aggressive, less invasive, and will reduce the length of hospital stay,” making the treatments more tolerated by patients. Another advantage is that patients can receive treatment at the same location.
