20 local facilities
The 15 Centers for Animation and Leisure, like the 5 Cyber Espaces, are hubs of life, discovery, leisure, development, experimentation, and exchange.
Spread across all areas of the city, functioning in a network, these meeting places weave the social fabric. Associations (in agreement with the city) and municipal services offer there a variety of sports and cultural activities, addressing audiences of all ages: small children, youth, adults, or seniors.
The Cyber Espaces are Public Digital Spaces that enable initiation into Internet usage, computing, as well as digital leisure activities. Between 2009 and 2011, membership saw an increase of up to 20% at certain times of the year.
To meet the expectations of all citizens of Nice, and under the leadership of Christian Estrosi who drives a proximity policy, the Animation and Leisure Service has undertaken the renovation of its centers (CAL Gorbella, soon CAL Saint Augustin) as well as the creation of new facilities (CAL St Pancrace delivered in February 2011, opening of Cyber Madeleine in autumn 2010โฆ). Significant credits are also allocated for implementing quality animation projects.
