Afghanistan: the people of Nice protest!

Latest News

“Help Afghanistan!”. On Tuesday, August 18th, at Place Garibaldi, citizens are mobilizing for asylum for Afghan refugees in France.

“Being the sixth largest economic power in the world, France has the means to host exiles from Afghanistan. It also has a historical duty to do so! Whether Estrosi and his ilk like it or not!” the โ€œRoya Citoyenneโ€ association indignantly states.

Since the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul, speeches by politicians opposed to welcoming Afghan refugees have been increasing. Emmanuel Macron and even Christian Estrosi have expressed some reluctance. “No. No, I am not ready to receive refugees here, it is clear,” announced the mayor of Nice on RTL.

In this context, the โ€œRoya Citoyenneโ€ association is calling for mobilization against these measures which it deems “indecent.”
It “demands the opening of legal and effective pathways for accessing France to protect Afghans who are victims of persecution.”

Through this action, the organization aims to denounce the closing of borders, the lack of resources, the police harassment experienced by refugees, the destruction of camps, the forced deportations of more than 6,000 Afghans by France between 2004 and 2020, and the prolonged delays in obtaining a visa.
