The snowpack has increased again with the weekend snowfall at Isola 2000, with 1.5 meters of snow at the top of the slopes, and 80 cm at the bottom.
Regarding the Auron resort, depending on the areas, it is estimated that there is between 80 cm to 1 meter at the top of the slopes, but 30 cm of snow cover at the base.
Nevertheless, thanks to investments in artificial snow production and the cold weather forecast for this week, Auron will be able to open part of its domain in good conditions, like Isola 2000, on November 27th, for the weekend. The opening of the Las Donas and Sauma Longue areas is being considered.
The General Council supports the ski resorts in the Alpes-Maritimes by participating in the Mixed Syndicates of Roubion, La Colmiane, Valberg, Mercantour resorts (Isola 2000, Auron, Saint-Dalmas), and Gréolières-Audibergue, up to 90% of the operating section.
Thus, in 2010, thanks to €12.9 million in aid from the Department, the Mixed Syndicates were able to invest €16.8 million, including €6.3 million for the Auron resort. After significant investments in previous years in artificial snow production (348 snow cannons and 2 reservoirs of 180,000 m³), Auron will be able to open earlier than planned.
