“Every job deserves a salary,” as the saying goes. The 238 Nice high school graduates who were awarded the highest honors were invited to the gardens of Villa Massรฉna on Thursday, July 9. With their entourage, they listened to the laudatory speech of Mayor Christian Estrosi, who will grant them a bonus of 300 euros as a reward.
The former high school students have every reason to smile. Accompanied by their parents and grandparents, they take the time to chat and take photos, proudly brandishing their diplomas. With the highest honors in their pocket, 300 euros will enhance their bank accounts. A sum that comes just in time at the beginning of the summer break.
“I want to help you,” Mayor Christian Estrosi tells them, smiling broadly at the assembled crowd. He spares no words to praise what these young people have accomplished, mentioning “necessary sacrifices, a lot of discipline,” and their ability to absorb “an ocean of knowledge.”
“The cream of Nice’s future”
He also encourages them not to slacken their efforts. “It’s a lifelong endeavor,” he insists about the path that remains to be traveled after graduating high school. And why not stay in Nice for higher education? The Mayor hopes so, citing the powerful companies present in the Plaine du Var, like Schneider Electric, the Eco-Vallรฉe project, or prestigious schools like Edhec… without, however, disclosing the tuition fees (41,000 โฌ over three years).
The inspector of the Nice Academy also speaks in glowing terms of the graduates. He first congratulates the very positive results regarding obtaining the middle school and high school diplomas in the Alpes-Maritimes, and notably the distinction that includes “the cream of Nice’s future. The highest honors are up by 16% compared to the previous session,” he announces.
