It is already the seventh day of Ligue 1 and on this occasion, the Aiglons faced Stade Brestois, the league leader (13 points). At stake for both teams: a temporary first place in the standings.
No surprises in the lineup chosen by Francesco Farioli, except for Youcef Atal, who returns to his starting position in defense. With Sofiane Diop resting, Jérémie Boga was logically given responsibility, having been heroic last week to overcome AS Monaco in injury time.
A Tight Match
After a good start by the Aiglons, the first dangerous chance came from the Brest side, where Jérémy Le Douaron outmaneuvered Atal to place a long shot on Marcin Bulka’s post. But the major chance of the first half came moments later. Atal, once again, delivered a pinpoint cross to Jérémie Boga, who in turn hit the opposite post, with Gaëtan Laborde unable to get past the Brest goalkeeper on the follow-up. The rest of the half, however, was less exciting, with both sides watching each other cautiously, maintaining a sluggish pace.
It was more of the same as we headed into the second half. However, the Aiglons started off more tentatively, before seeking goals through counter-attacks, which is their specialty. It’s noteworthy that Jean-Clair Todibo had to leave abruptly after experiencing some cramps, immediately replaced by Rosario (68′). Farioli also made quite a few changes in quick succession, going all out by bringing in Lotomba, Boudaoui, Bouanani, and Guessand, but to no avail. Thus, no goals were scored, resulting in a goalless draw to conclude the match. It’s the Gym’s fourth draw this season, remaining undefeated so far.
The next appointment is next Saturday when OGC Nice travels to Metz (5 PM).
