Lรฉon, a premature baby born on July 27th, was denied boarding on an Air France flight from Nice to Paris due to a lack of identity card. He was supposed to go there for an urgent eye surgery.

Air France is facing a new controversy after refusing boarding to an infant who was to be hospitalized. Lรฉon, a three-month-old baby, was born prematurely and has never left the hospital since his birth, reports CNews.

He needed to undergo urgent eye surgery in Paris. The problem? He was unable to fly there because he didn’t have an identity document. Despite the urgent nature of the situation, Air France refused to relent and did not authorize his boarding.

Eventually, the hospital agreed to transport the infant by ambulance to Paris. A journey that took 10 hours, instead of one hour by planeโ€ฆ

Nicolas Lejeune, the father, told the news channel that the airline does not require identity documents for infants under three months old, but their son is already three months and two weeks old.

“We don’t feel like we’re experiencing the greatest injustice, but being a parent of a very premature baby is already stressful, and in this situation, Air France is not making it easy for us,” he continued.

Leรณn’s father also stated to CNews that they had sent letters to Christian Estrosi as well as the Ministry of Health, to ensure that such incidents do not happen again to other parents.
