The platform Airbnb announced this Tuesday that it has blocked multiple rentals. Over the past year, more than 240,000 customers have been denied accommodation in France. The objective is simple: to limit clandestine events during the COVID period.
In the summer of 2020, the Airbnb app had warned and banned clandestine gatherings in accommodations in light of the consequences of the health crisis. The platform allowed access to only 16 people for an apartment.
53,000 is the number of people who have been refused or prevented from renting in Paris, and nearly 4,000 to 7,000 people between Marseille and Bordeaux. Nevertheless, Airbnb reassures its users and declares that only reservations are blocked, not customer accounts.
To ensure the safe operation of the application, the platform has decided to automatically block so-called suspicious bookings. In other words, Airbnb has chosen to suspend rentals for vacationers under 25 years old.
