Airport: record goal of 11 million passengers for 2012

Latest News

Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is experiencing a relatively slow start to the year with estimated traffic up by +1.3% as of the end of March 2012.

In 2012, the number of airlines (59) and the number of direct destinations (104) departing from Nice are almost equivalent to those of the summer season 2011.

Despite a relatively stable start to the year, the growth prospects for traffic in 2012 remain optimistic: +5.5%, relying on the establishment of the Air France and easyJet bases to boost this traffic.

Hervé de Place, Chairman of the Executive Board of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur, concludes: “This beginning of the year shows overall signs of timidity despite the good performance internationally. But the opening of the Air France and easyJet bases for the summer season encourages our optimism. We are considering traffic growth of 5.5% and anticipate reaching 11 million passengers in 2012. The numerous destinations departing from Nice should be very successful with our passengers and enable us to achieve this goal.”

This season, Nice Côte d’Azur Airport offers passengers 104 direct flight destinations with 59 airlines and sees the opening of the Air France and easyJet bases, which will add 4 and 7 new destinations respectively, starting from April 2012.

Like last season, 35 countries are connected to Nice this summer and 35 daily connections are ensured between Nice and Paris: 26 with Orly and 9 with Roissy.

It is important to note that the number of weekly frequencies is increasing by 5.9%: a total of 1,357 weekly frequencies, which is 76 more compared to summer 2011.

To conclude on the summer season 2012, even though the number of airlines and destinations remains almost stable in 2012 compared to 2011, the frequencies and capacity are increasing significantly, suggesting satisfactory passenger traffic growth, especially with the establishment of the Air France and easyJet bases.
