Why a new exhibition of Alain Lestié at the Depardieu gallery? The last one was only a year ago? It’s an urgent matter! Urgent to see his new works combining his “immutable motifs” populated with images between the abstract and the concrete, characteristic signs, and appropriately evocative titles.
More prolific than ever, Alain Lestié infinitely recreates his universe filled with a force stemming from deep reflection, full of meaning.
Each of the exhibited works (for example “Arrangement,” “Convergences,” “The Rest of Time,” etc.) poses a question about the world around us, a question not always optimistic but oh so visionary, addressing the realms of politics, society, and philosophy.
Over time and through years of practicing his art, Alain Lestié masters all the codes and concentrates them with formidable efficiency, sparking emotion and the desire to know more. The strength of his message is amplified by his great skill as he employs a simple Nero pencil on traditional, very thick Fabriano paper (640 gsm).
“Thus, this new exhibition, in the sobriety of black and white, in the rigor of the unique format of the works, proves indispensable to help us grasp a particularly demanding and rich form of art,” says Christian Depardieu.
