Alizé Cornet donated the outfit and racket with which she defeated Serena Williams at Wimbledon to the Museum. This gesture was greatly appreciated by the mayor of Nice, who is also a former international Moto GP champion and a sports enthusiast.


While in Nice, Alizé will then join the French team on Sunday to participate in the Fed Cup match against Italy, next weekend in Genoa.

Alizé CORNET, 25 years old, is ranked the 19th player in the world, and is the number 1 French player.

She was born and raised in Nice in the Port district, Riquier – She attended school at the Port School and Port Lympia College. She hit her first balls at the age of 4 at the Tennis Club des Arènes de Cimiez before joining the courts of Parc Impérial at the age of 12.

Brilliant both on the courts and at school: French champion in the 13-14 age group in 2004, European champion in the 15-16 age group in 2005, she passed her Baccalauréat S two years early, reaching the top early in her career, playing her first Roland-Garros at just 15 and winning the Roland-Garros Junior title at 17. She was ranked the 11th player in the world by the age of 19.

2014 was a year of resurgence with 3 victories over the world number 1, American Serena WILLIAMS: in Dubai in February, at Wimbledon in July, and in Wuhan in September (due to withdrawal).

She has won 6 titles since her beginnings on the WTA circuit.
