The Citizens for Climate collective is mobilizing this Saturday to issue a new alert on the climate emergency ahead of the European elections.
A march will take place with a meeting point at 3 p.m. at Place Garibaldi. Other collectives from the 06 area will join the marchers. Following the march, there will be an alternatives village with local associations and a musical atmosphere.
The organizing collective emphasizes that the march is intended to be a citizen and family event, and in the electoral context, no promotion of political parties will be allowed.
A bike parade is organized beforehand by the Nice à vélo collective, departing at 1:30 p.m., also from Place Garibaldi.
The collective invites the people of Nice to come in large numbers to this march for climate and biodiversity.
According to Laurent Lanquar-Castel (the EE-LV leader in the department), “It is high time our elected officials take responsibility and acknowledge the environmental urgency we are in!”
The collective also wishes to use this march to highlight local issues.

“In fact, citizens often have little or misleading information on what is happening at the level of local decision-makers.
Currently, the development of the Climate Plan (renamed Territorial Climate Air Energy Plan) is underway, and the public consultation will take place very soon. This Climate Plan deserves all citizens’ attention because it must be ambitious and, above all, in compliance with the law.
However, as of now, the proposals from the metropolis do not allow for meeting the greenhouse gas emission reduction targets set by law. The ‘Citizen Collective 06’ has done tremendous work comparing the law’s targets and the proposals from the Metropolis.
The Metropolis Climate Plan must not fall short of what needs to be done to combat the climate emergency!”
