The health pass will no longer be required in shopping centers in departments where the COVID incidence is below 200. In the Alpes-Maritimes, the number of infections is declining, but it has not yet fallen below the 200 cases mark.
“In departments where the incidence has dropped below 200 per 100,000 inhabitants and where the incidence has been continuously decreasing for a week, we will remove the requirement for the health pass,” announced Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of Economy and Finance.
The Alpes-Maritimes is one of the 8 departments still affected by the restrictions. As of today, the incidence rate is 211 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
However, COVID is rapidly declining in the department, which could lead to the lifting of the health pass requirement in shopping centers in the coming days.
Currently, one must be able to present a negative PCR test or be vaccinated to visit the large shopping centers in the department.
As a reminder, on August 9, 2021, the health pass was implemented in shopping centers over 200,000 square meters to curb the spread of the virus.
At the national level, only 178 centers were initially affected by the health pass requirement, of which 64 are expected to remain under the obligation.
Nonetheless, in general, Emmanuel Macron has not commented on a possible extension of the health pass until November 15. “If the epidemic is still present in the coming weeks, this option will have to remain for the most affected areas.”
