Amnesty International marches for the Uyghurs

Latest News

This Friday, February 4th, starting at 12 PM, Amnesty International is organizing a protest march on the occasion of the Beijing Winter Olympics against human rights violations and crimes against humanity in China targeting the Uyghurs, a Muslim minority in the Xinjiang province.

This march will start at 2 Rue Alfred Mortier, on the small square behind the Eglise du Vœu, and will end at Place Garibaldi around 2 PM. A statement will be read explaining the infringements on freedom of expression, the systematic surveillance of the population, forced labor, incarcerations and internments, widespread religious discrimination and persecutions, torture, disappearances, and other crimes against humanity targeting hundreds, if not thousands, of people. Five emblematic figures of these human rights violations will be mentioned, and an urgent action letter will be offered for public signature.
